About

Outrunner is dedicated to the path of the traceur, the life of the minority, way of the warrior-poet, and where the three intersect.

The traceur

The traceur is a practitioner of parkour, also known as the art of movement, free running, or l’art du déplacement. The discipline is concerned with exploring and mastering the ways in which the human body can move, be it as an artistic expression, as a way of quickly getting around, or just for fun. Taking much of its philosophy from George Hébert’s méthode naturelle, the traceur embodies strength and quickness of body as well as courage and compassion of spirit.

The minority

The average practitioner of the art of movement is a relatively fit, straight white male in his teens or twenties. We come from diverse ethnic backgrounds, all sorts of sexualities and gender identifications, various ages, and a slew of fitness levels.

The warrior-poet

The fianna of Irish legend, the wǔxiá of the Chinese romances, the paladins of fantasy lore. Cáo Cāo composing his verse, Gurney Halleck at his baliset, Gichin Funakoshi writing his philosophy. The warrior-poet is a contemplative who draws wisdom from the sword, strength from philosophy. His martial discipline is guided by his respect for life and his moral code.
